Our History

From Modest Beginnings

Founded in 1968, Curtis Industries was established by Fred Curtis Sr. to meet a growing need for operator protection in agriculture. Originally known as Curtis Tractor Cab Company, the business focused on compact tractor cabs designed to shield operators from wind, rain, and snow, improving comfort and productivity in the field.

Curtis has evolved into a leading U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of cab enclosures, attachments, and vehicle accessories. What started as a single product line has grown into a comprehensive portfolio engineered for durability, safety, and year-round performance.

Today, Curtis products are installed on tractors, zero-turn mowers, utility vehicles, golf cars, and commercial equipment around the world. Through long-standing partnerships with OEMs and a nationwide dealer network, Curtis supports a wide range of industries, including agriculture, municipalities, rental companies, turf, construction, and homeowners with acreage.

With a continued focus on engineering innovation and in-house manufacturing, Curtis Industries remains committed to building solutions that enhance equipment performance and elevate the operator experience.

Evolution

From a small tractor cab company in 1968 to a trusted partner for OEMs today, Curtis has spent decades engineering cab enclosures, attachments, and accessories that improve operator comfort, safety, and productivity across a wide range of equipment.

1968 Fred Curtis Sr. develops first cab The first cab was developed to protect operators from the elements and extend working hours in the field. 1988 First integrated heating system This system introduced in-cab heat to improve comfort and enable reliable operation in colder conditions. 1992 First gas-assist doors Gas-assist doors were introduced to improve ease of use and provide smoother, more controlled entry and exit. 1994 First ROPS certification Curtis achieved its first ROPS certification, reinforcing a commitment to safety and compliance with industry standards. 2003 First OEM design & custom modular cab From build-your-own modular cabs to integrated OEM designs, this year marked a shift toward deeper OEM collaboration. 2004 First UTV plow on the RTV900 Curtis launched its first UTV plow on the RTV900, expanding its product line into utility vehicle attachments. 2005 First all-plastic cab & new door systems We advanced cab design with all-plastic panels and innovative door systems, like our patented parallel-opening doors. 2007 Convertible cabs & automotive interiors With rapid convertible cabs, integrated accessory wiring, and automotive-style interiors, we elevated operator comfort. 2008 OEM collaboration & advanced materials We expanded into OEM styling collaboration, quantum-coated polycarbonate windows, and drop ship logistics. 2009 Low-speed vehicle cabs
Curtis developed cab systems designed to meet FMVSS standards, supporting safe operation for low-speed vehicles.
2010 First gas-assist roof lift
Curtis introduced a gas-assist roof lift system to improve accessibility and simplify maintenance for operators.
2011 First electric spreader attachment Curtis launched its first electric spreader attachment, expanding into powered solutions for year-round jobsite use. 2012 New innovations in cab design & coating We launched our first drop-on design and a pressurized, filtered-air cab, while improving our surface-coating methods. 2013 New advancements in integration Across tubing, heating, and storage, we integrated advanced features to improve durability and performance. 2014 Electric-over-hydraulic RTV plow With the launch of this product, Curtis improved efficiency and performance for RTV operators. 2015 Acquired Artillian Bringing Artillian under the Curtis umbrella helped expand our capabilities in the attachment market.
2017 Mechanical air conditioning Curtis introduced mechanical air conditioning systems to deliver consistent, high-performance climate control for operators. 2018 Celebrating 50 years We marked 50 years of innovation, growth, and partnership across OEM and aftermarket industries.
